Hamed Sadeghi is proud to announce his latest album Convergence.

Releases 1 May 2026 on ABC Classics

At the heart of Convergence is a continuous movement between two musical worlds. It moves passionately between Persian and Western classical languages, allowing each to shape the other in subtle and unexpected ways. Persian modal systems, microtonal inflections, and intricate ornamentation are interwoven with the structural clarity and textural richness of Western classical writing. The result is a sound that is both intimate and expansive - at once rooted in tradition and open to reinterpretation.

The ensemble setting plays a central role in shaping the album’s sonic identity. The tar, as both a solo and textural instrument, interacts closely with the string trio, creating shifting layers of resonance and tension. Percussion provides both rhythmic grounding and colour, while the voice emerges as a guiding force sometimes leading, sometimes dissolving into the ensemble. The music moves fluidly between composed passages and moments of heightened expressivity, giving the work a sense of breath and organic evolution.

Award-winning Persian-Australian artist and producer Hamed Sadeghi presents Convergence, a major new recording that brings together Persian classical music and Western classical traditions in a deeply considered and emotionally charged work.

Written for tar, voice, percussion, and string trio, Convergence is grounded in both contemporary and classical Persian poetry. The voice carries the poetic core of the album, drawing on texts that span generations - where the philosophical depth of classical literature meets the immediacy and perspective of contemporary expression. Through this, the work becomes not only a musical dialogue, but a cultural and temporal one.

Recorded at ABC Studios in Sydney, Convergence captures a detailed and immersive sonic environment. Great care has been taken in preserving the natural interplay between instruments, allowing space, silence, and nuance to become integral elements of the listening experience. The recording reflects Sadeghi’s approach as both composer and producer—balancing precision with openness, and structure with spontaneity.

Convergence continues Sadeghi’s ongoing exploration of cross-cultural practice, but represents a significant artistic development in both scale and depth. Rather than simply combining musical traditions, the work seeks to create a unified language - one in which differences are not smoothed over, but engaged with directly and transformed into new possibilities.
